This qualification is aimed at learners employed within local government (municipalities) who want to build a career in local government accounting. It gives learners access to entry- and mid-level accounting roles within the municipal environment.
Core modules cover recording income and receipts, processing documents relating to goods and services supplied, processing receipts, and coding sales invoices and credit notes. Learners typically need to already be employed in a relevant local government finance role, or be enrolled through a learnership programme. On completion, learners can progress to the Advanced Certificate: Local Government Accounting at NQF Level 4.
