Purpose of qualification
Octomate is a duly accredited and is offering Class of Business Training. A FSP and a representative must complete the class of business training relevant to the financial products for which they are authorised or appointed prior to rendering of any financial service in respect of such products. A key individual must, likewise, complete the class of business training in respect of the classes of business it manages or oversees and for which he/she is approved to act as key individual prior to managing or overseeing the rendering of any such financial services.
Duration:
Minimum 1 year
Upon completion, the learner will receive a Certificate of Completion, which states the module completed and the final mark.
Requirements to register
In order to register for the qualification the learner should be competent in both Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 4 and may have acquired Long-Term Insurance / Wealth Management Qualifications at NQF Level 4.
Entry Requirements:
- Should have over 5 years industry experience.

Targeted learners / Who may register?
Intermediaries who need a level 5 qualification for licensing in Long-Term Category C under the Financial
Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS). These may be intermediaries in Long-Term Insurance, Retirement Funds or Medical Schemes who do not give investment advice. Intermediaries who need a level 5 qualification for licensing in Category 1 (non-discretionary) under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS). These advisors advise clients on existing collective investment scheme portfolios or financial products. Financial Planners who wish to acquire the basic knowledge and competencies required for international
recognition Have attained a Level 4 insurance qualification and wish to progress to the next level. Have achieved a B. Comm. Degree and require a post graduate qualification with a specialization in Retirement Funds, Long-Term Insurance, Financial Planning, Collective Investments or Medical Schemes.
Study Method
The qualification will be offered through direct facilitation and distance learning.
Programme Structure
The Curriculum is aligned to the National Certificate in Wealth Management.
Assessment of Participants
Assessment is both formative and summative and includes:
Open Formative Assessments (Two assignments per module) Closed Book Assessments (One Final Examination per Module)
Learning outcomes
Gathering, analysing, synthesising and evaluating information, manipulating and interpreting data and identifying trends, communicating information coherently in writing and verbally, and showing insight into current affairs in the Financial Services sector. Apply knowledge of economics, investment practices, tax and other financial information to match the needs of clients to financial products. Applying knowledge of legislation, ethics, and compliance in the context of the financial services sector in South Africa.
